A Fuller, Rounder Buttock
There are two ways a rounder buttock can be achieved... with the
help of an implant or by having your own fat placed in this area.
Buttock Implant
An artificial implant is placed in the buttock. Although
this can give a very smooth contour and realistic feel, there are
two potentially serious problems associated with these implants:
-
They tend to shift out of place – not good!
-
There is an increased risk of infection with this particular
implant. If that happens, then the implant will need to be removed. If replaced, there is an increased risk of infection.
Fat Transfer
Fat is removed from one area of your body and placed
in the buttock to achieve a rounder, smoother contour. First, you
must have enough adipose tissue in another area to allow us to harvest
sufficient fat to place in your buttock.
If you are very slim and want a rounder buttock, then fat transfer will not
work. On the other hand, if you do want liposuction in an area such
as the abdomen, then fat transfer is an ideal solution for you since we can harvest
tissue from the liposuction
and prepare it for transfer to achieve a rounder buttock. This
is indeed like getting two birds with one stone!
In order to achieve the best result, and a rounder, smoother buttock,
we must place the fat into the muscle. The downside is that this makes for a sore buttock
for a few weeks. The challenge is that every time you sit, it will
feel like you are sitting on a bruise – somewhat uncomfortable.
Happily, a soft cushion can be your best friend during this brief time!
Like any fat transfer, not all of the fat "will take"...
some will get reabsorbed into the body. Occasionally, one may need a
second procedure. To alleviate this possibility, we usually tend to overcorrect slightly
when we perform the fat transfer.
